What’s this? A blog?
March 24, 2007
It had to happen sooner or later. After some more gentle persuasion from my good friend Andy Stopford I thought I’d better check out this blogging thing.
So without further ado, the customary introductions……
My name is David Parkinson and I’m a programmer from the North West UK. Most of my primary development time is spent deep within the realms of .NET with both C# and VB.NET (yes I know, not by choice). I started out back in the good old days on the Amiga programming in AmigaBASIC then progressed into “real” programming on the PC with VB3 a few years later. Since then I have worked with numerous languages such as C, C++, Java, Prolog, Haskell, T-SQL even some old 68000 ASM on occasion. I am also very keen to try out new things and have recently started playing around with Ruby on Rails which I am quite impressed with so far, and it’s a nice break from .NET.
I started working with Andy on the new GUI for MbUnit codenamed Icarus a few weeks ago so I will try my best and keep posting updates on the development of that on here as well as other random thoughts as they pop into my head.
Well, i think thats it for now. Let the blogging journey begin. ![]()

What is wrong with vb.net?

Woot! My first love was the TI-99, my second was the Amiga. I fell hard for that baby… =)
I still have a towerised A1200 under my desk at home. Unfortunately our house was burgled in Sept. 2005, and though the machine was recovered by the police (from our metamphetamine drug addict neighbour’s house!) it has not worked right since. Nevermind I lost my flicker fixer… *sigh* Needless to say we don’t live there anymore.

Theres nothing really wrong with VB.NET, Usually when I mention VB.NET there are replies of disgust, it was more of a pre-emptive comment
Having said that, I wish they would have put Anonymous Methods into the latest version. I do a lot of WinForms GUI work and that would have helped so much.
Jeff: Sorry to hear about your A1200, I’ve still got my A500+ and A1200 (regular) here, theres just some things you can never get rid of. I really wanted to get an A4000T but by the time I had saved up enough for one, Commodore went bust
